The Handbook includes planning steps and a time line for launching the model. There is also a detailed overview of both the Pregnancy and Parenting models, including learning objectives, recommended evaluation processes, and the three components of Centering: assessment, education, and support.

The Handbook also considers the role of group healthcare in the U.S. and how the Centering model meets the recommendations of the Institute of Medicine. There is a helpful table which contrasts traditional care and the Centering model and information about the benefits of group care for patients, providers and agencies.

Also included is a sample session for both CenteringPregnancyŽ and CenteringParentingŽ sessions and an extensive bibliography.

A variety of appendices give suggestions for logistical/scheduling solutions, publicity, and additional resources.
